Delhi Police SI Exam Pattern, Syllabus, Papers & Books

June 10, 2012

Delhi Police SI Exam Prep MaterialsDelhi Police SI Exam Pattern Syllabus Papers BooksSSC is going to conduct the Delhi Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Exam 2012 on 19th August, 2012. You can find details about the recruitment of this 335 SI (Sub-Inspector) in my previous blog post titled: SSC Delhi Police SI Recruitment 2012 Notification, Form Eligibility. How to prepare for this exam? Where to find the prep materials for Delhi Police SI Exam? This is the subject matter of the current article - it at first tells you what is the pattern of Delhi Police SI Exam, than gives you the syllabus and points you to the sample papers & prep books for the same.

At first let me tell you that although this article is being made on the eve of Delhi Police SI Exam 2012 - these prep materials (i.e. Syllabus, Sample Papers & Books) can also be used for future examinees i.e. Delhi Police SI Exam 2013/ 2014 as the pattern of the exam/selection process is not going to change soon.

Delhi Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Selection Process:
Selections for the Delhi Police Sub-inspectors through SSC exam consists of a 400 marks written test, which consists of 2 papers - Paper-I & Paper-II, each paper worth 200 marks. Those shortlisted after PET & medical test (as described below) are called for a 100 mark interview.

Based on the relative performance of all the candidates in Paper-I , the cut-off for Delhi Police SI exam in Paper-I would be decided by Staff Selection Commission. Those above this cut-off would be called for Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Medical test, both of which are only qualifying in nature. If you can clear PET & medical test, the marks you scored in both Paper-I & II would be aggregated and shortlisting would be done to call you for the 100 mark Personality Test / Interview.

Delhi Police SI exam pattern:
SSC Delhi Police SI Exam Pattern
As mentioned above, Delhi Police Sub-Inspectors written exam consists of two paper of total 400 marks. The table at right gives you a clear idea about the test sections, duration and mark distribution in both the papers of Delhi Police SI exam:

These test sections are identical to the SSC SI exam for recruitment of Sub-Inspectors  in the four CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) organisations - BSF, CISF, CRPF & ITBP, which you can find in the table below as well as in my previous blog post titled: SSC CAPF SI/ASI Exam Sample Papers, Books, Syllabus & Exam Pattern. If you analyse these two exam pattern/format closely, you will find that only "Part-C Quantitative Aptitude" section of Delhi Police SI Exam is named as "Numerical Aptitude" in SSC CAPF SI exam, which actually means the same thing. Therefore, you can use the prep materials (i.e. Sample papers & Books) for CAPF to prepare for Delhi Police SI Exam.

SSC CAPF SI exam patternThis exam format of Delhi Police SI Exam is also similar to Bank Clerical/PO exams - which also has similar four test sections - Test of reasoning, General Awareness, Numerical Aptitude & test of English language. Since the test section and even mark distributions are so similar, you can therefore use the banking exam papers & books to prepare for Delhi Police Exam.
Another noteworthy thing to find from above pattern of Delhi Police SI Exam is that - test of English language has been given the maximum weightage - 250 marks out of 400. Hence you have to give maximum focus on that.
