CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) has just last week issued recruitment notification 2012-2013 for 245 Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer) vacancies & 895 Head Constable (Ministerial) vacancies, last date for application of which is 19th December, 2012.
This blog summarizes the important information contained in the above notification to help you apply as well as to archive the same, so that it can be used by future CRPF job aspirants to know about the exam– e.g. for CRPF Recruitment Exam 2013-2014.

But before that a small primer on CRPF.
What is CRPF:
CPF is a paramilitary security force under Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India. It was formed as “Crown Representative's Police” on 27 July 1939 which was later renamed as Central Reserve Police Force after independence on 28 December 1949.
The main role of CRPF's is assisting the State/Union Territories in police operations to maintain law and order and contain insurgency. It is also operating abroad as part of United Nations peacekeeping missions.
The CRPF is headed by a Director General and is divided into ten administrative sectors, each headed by an Inspector General. Each Sector consists of one or more administrative and/or Operational Ranges, headed by an officer of the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police. There are 210 CRPF battalions of approximately 720 constables each. Each battalion is commanded by an officer designated as Commandant, and consists of seven CRPF companies, each comprising of 135 Men. Each company is headed by an Assistant Commandant. The Home Ministry is planning to increase the strength of the force by adding 35 more battalions (30,000 personnel approx.) in the coming years.

CRPF Asst. Sub-Inspector/Head Constable Vacancies 2012-2013:
As told, there are 245 Assistant Sub-Inspector (Stenographer) vacancies with category-wise break up as given in the table at left.

CRPF Asst. Sub-Inspector/Head Constable recruitment selection process:
The selection process for CRPF ASI/HC recruitment consists of two stages:
First stage consists of:
i) Checking documents
ii) Physical Measurements.
iii) Written examinations
Second stage consists of:
i) Typing Speed test (Only on Computer)
ii) Short hand speed test (Only for ASI/Steno)
iii) Checking of documents
iv) Interview.
v) Medical examination

Important dates for CRPF Exam 2012-2013:
Last date for receipt of completed application form: 19th December, 2012.
Checking of documents, physical measurements, written examination: 17/01/2013 to 10/03/2013.
Computer typing/shorthand test, interview, medical examination: 15/04/2013 to 22/04/2013.
CRPF Asst. Sub-Inspector/Head Constable Salary:
Salary being offered by CRPF for these positions are in following pay scale:
Asst. Sub-Inspector (Stenographer) - Rs.5200-20200+GP-2800/- (Min. Rs.8,560/- P.M.)
Head Constable (Ministerial) - Rs.5200-20200+GP-2400/- (Min. Rs.7,510/- P.M.)
In addition, the posts carry DA, Free accommodation or House Rent Allowance as per Govt. Order, Ration Money, Medical Facilities, Free uniform items, Leave Travel concession and other special types of allowances as may be admissible for different areas, from time to time.
CRPF Asst. Sub-Inspector/Head Constable Eligibilities:
Age eligibility: (as on 19/12/2012)
Min: 18 yrs, Max: 25 yrs.
Upper age limit relaxation: SC/ST: 5 yrs, OBC: 3 yrs, Govt. Servants with 3 years service: 5 yrs.
Academic Qualification eligibility:
Class XII pass or equivalent passed from a recognized board or university.
Minimum skill eligibility on Computer:
1) For ASI(Steno):
Dictation : 10 mts @ 80 wpm., Translation: 50 mts(English), 65 mts (Hindi)
2) For HC(Min):
Typing on computer – 35 wpm in English (30 wpm for SC/ST) or 30 wpm in Hindi.
Physical standard eligibility:
As given in section:”4. PHYSICAL STANDARD” in page-2 of the Notification.
