CLAT 2015 Notification, Application Form & Eligibility

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2015 Notification has been published and the Exam & Form submission dates announced. If you want to apply for this exam, this article would help you doing that with important information on Eligibility and Form submission process.

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2015 is going to be held on 10th May, 2015 as per the CLAT 2015 Notification brought out by RMLNLU Lucknow, the Organizing University of CLAT-2015. As per this notification, Online Application Form for CLAT 2015 would be available from 1st January, 2015 and 31st March, 2015 would be the last date for submission of the form.

What is CLAT and How to apply for it? This blog post has been made to answer these questions along with important information like what is the eligibility required for CLAT 2015. Let us begin this by knowing what CLAT is.

What is Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)?

CLAT is an all-India law entrance exam, conducted for admissions into LL.B & LL.M program of prestigious National Law Universities of India. This very important law exam was conducted for the first time on 11th May 2008 and has since been conducted every year on the 2nd/3rd Sunday of May. CLAT 2015 is going to be the 7th CLAT exam.

While only seven law institutes took part in the first CLAT exam, number of law institutes participating in CLAT has been increasing every year. In CLAT 2015,  sixteen law institutes are participating.

Can you get admissions to all law schools in India through CLAT? If not, which are the law schools in which you can get admissions through it?

7.0 Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar (GNLU).

8.0 Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow (RMLNLU).

9.0 Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala (RGNUL).

10.0 Chanakya National Law University, Patna (CNLU).

11.0 National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi (NUALS).

How good are above Law colleges?

You can find how good are above law colleges from law college ranking done  by different organisations like India Today. For instance in the recent  “Best Indian Law College-2014” ranking by India Today, six out of top ten law colleges are the CLAT law universities.

What are the eligibilities for CLAT 2015?

As said before, CLAT exam is held for two levels LL.B & LL.M. Eligibility for them are given below.

Eligibilities for CLAT LL.B:

Age: (as on 1st July of year of exam – e.g. 01.07.2015 for CLAT 2015)

Maximum 20 yrs for General/OBC/PWD & 22 yrs for SC/ST.

Academic qualification:

Minimum 45% in Class-XII final exam (40% for SC/ST). Final year students can also apply but he/she should posses the above qualification during his/her admission.

Eligibilities for CLAT LL.M:

Age: No age bar.

Academic qualification:

Minimum 55% in LL.B/B.L. Degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized University (50% for SC/ST/OBC/Disabled). Final year students can also apply but he/she should posses the above qualification during his/her admission.

Selection process for CLAT LL.B/LL.M program:

Selections to above prestigious law colleges through CLAT is purely based on the CLAT written exam - overall merit, preference-wise, gender-wise, state-wise and reservation-wise.

CLAT 2015 Exam Fee:

Exam fee for CLAT-2015 is Rs.4000/- only (Rs.3500/- in case of SC/ST on submission of proof) which is inclusive of Application Form fee as well as test fee.

Important dates for CLAT 2015:

Date of CLAT 2015 form submission starts on: 1st January, 2015.
Last Date for submission of CLAT 2015 forms: 31st March 2015.
Download of Admit Cards/Hall Tickets: From 15th April, 2015 onward.
Date of CLAT 2015 written exam: 10th May 2015.
