NIMCET is conducted by NIT's each year as an entrance exam for admissions to MCA program on the 3rd/4th Sunday of May. Notification for NIMCET 2014 has already come out and the exam date has been scheduled as 25th May 2014. Submission of Online Application Form for NIMCET 2014 is going to start on 17th February, 2014 and would close on 3rd April, 2014.
This blog post has been made to keep you informed about this MCA study opportunity in NITs and help you apply for the same by quoting the relevant information on Eligibility and Application Form from the notification. Lets begin this by finding how many seats are in the offing and the list of institutes participating in NIMCET 2014.
NIMCET 2014 Seats and Institutes:
There are a total of 867 MCA seats in 12 NITs through NIMCET 2014. You can find the institute-wise, category-wise break up of the MCA seats in the table below:

Eligibility Criteria For NIMCET 2014:
Minimum 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA (6.0 CGPA for SC/ST) on a 10 point scale in following qualifications:
(i) BSc / BSc (Hons) / BCA / BIT of minimum 3-years full-time OR
(ii) B E / B Tech or equivalent from a recognized University.
Final year/semester students are also eligible to apply but they have to submit the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria preferably at the time of Counseling/Admission but not later than 15th September, 2014.
List of Test Centres for NIMCET 2014
NIMCET would be held in following 21 exam centres all over India:

You can give three choices of examination centres while submitting your online form.
NIMCET 2014 Exam Pattern:
NIMCET is a 2-hour single paper test, containing 120 questions. Name of test sections along with number of questions are given below:
1. Mathematics: 50 questions
2. Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning: 40 questions
3. Computer Awareness: 10 questions
4. General English: 20 questions

NIMCET 2014 Online Form:
There is no offline application form and you to submit the form online only.
How to apply online for this exam has been given very clearly in section "4.0 Web Enabled On-Line Application Form" from page-8 of the Notification. The application fee is Rs.1,800/- for Open/OBC and Rs.900/- for SC/ST.
Admit Card:
You have to download your Admit Card after log-in from 9th May to 25th May, 2014. This Admit Card has to be presented at the Test Centre, counseling centre and participating institute (PI) at the time of admission.
NIMCET 2015 Exam Date Forecast:
Some of you may be appearing in next NIMCET exam and hence would like to know when the next NIMCET i.e. NIMCET 2015 is going to be held. To let you know about it, I analysed the exam date trends for last five exam dates and the result is as below:
As you can see above NIMCET is held always either on the 3rd or 4th Sunday of May. Therefore Exam date of NIMCET 2015 should be 17th/24th May, 2015. The advertisement comes out around 2nd week of February. Therefore you should check MCA admission webpages of NITs during these times - say for instance this webpage of MCA admission by NIT, Trichy.
